Are They Whimsical?

I am thrifty. This does motivate much of what I do. I do desire nice things. I want people to see my house decor and think I have style and taste, but not extravagance. So, I try and work with what I have. One thing I did was make bathroom curtains out of bath towels. I have gotten mixed reviews.

I thought it was clever and whimsical. Two friends and my mom agreed! My husband and sister did not.

So, it is your chance to vote and let me know. This is scary because I really want to hear they are great, only if they are. But, since I like them no matter how this poll turns out...I will probably keep them. I have other things I want to spend my money on.

Conceptually my husband likes them. (he is an engineer). However...the pottery barn decorator in me is struggling to see the whimsy in them. BUT...huge bonus points for being clever and creative. :o) I probably would have used pillowcases or sheets to get desired whimsical result while still being thrifty at the same time. :o)

however...husband behind me says pillows and sheets do not match the bathroom theme. he also says to complete the decor you should have used towel racks for curtain rods. Did i mention he is an engineer?? and his house was a total man pad when i met him?

I say fun and whimsical! I like the fact that you "worked with what you had." Keep them:)

Whimsical is just the word for them!

I don't care if no one likes it, she said, unless no one likes it.

You can dry your hands on the curtains!

I love them! What a great idea!! Plus when you need to wash them, you don't have to worry about them shrinking like you would with other fabrics!

I like them. They are easy to wash which will be good considering they are white and in the bathroom :).

I'll give you a vote for clever! :) But I'm confused... now don't you have to buy towels? ;) j/k

Personally, I don't do the window treatment thing... I like lots of streaming light coming through and anything blocking it annoys me (in my own house, mind you).

Despite this, I vote clever and whimsical. It's the way to be. :)

Ok, I like the idea of the towel rods for curtain rods.

I also prefer no curtains Sally. That is what I have going on in the kitchen. But that is the newer part of our house and the windows are nice etc. However, the back part of our house is from the 50's and the windows probably need to be replaced, so a little window treatment makes them look a bit more complete.

I moved around some curtains recently. I put up some green ones in my youngest bedroom, which I love. Then I took the curtain that was in there and put it out in my outer bath area. Not totally my taste, but that window needed something as it was an old one. Maybe I'll post that one and see if you have any better suggestions. The thing is that the curtain now in that window came with the house, so free is such a nice thing right now.
